2015: By the numbers.
by thisnorthernboy
Happy New Year everyone, and thanks for your continued support on this blog, and across Twitter and Instagram, over the last twelve months. Every like and comment is very much appreciated.
2015 was a pretty big year for me. After drawing more and more often for the last few years, I finally made the decision to try and start earning some money from illustration. I didn’t expect to get a book published full of my illustrations – and to be featured in another, or to have produced so many private commissions. While illustration only managed to contribute a fraction of my income for the year, it was a much better start than I could have hoped for.
My challenge for 2016 is to build on that success and hopefully get another book published – this time one that only has my name on the cover.

Thank you for bringing out the product of your brain to us that inspire in so many ways to proceed and pursue what we want for ourselves as well. I’m talking from Brazil and this year is my plan to start my portfolio. I have just met you through a WordPress post which was talking about many blogs and yours caught my attention among the others.
Hi Francisco, thanks for your comment and I’m really glad you like my work. Good luck for you in 2016! Happy drawing.

For us the best of all 🙂 I will be following your work from here. Keep it up!
Love your work. Stumbled across a quote of yours about drawing every day and have made it my new years aspiration to try and do just that. Happy New Year!
Happy New Year to you too Amy. Good luck with the daily drawing project, it was just the thing I needed to get back in to art.
Congratulations on a great year! I think it’s just the start of your success. I for one am excited to see what develops. Thanks for the wonderful art and especially for the kindness you have shown in our communications. Best to you this next year.
Great to come across your blog. My son bought me a little orange pencil case full of proper illustrating pens this Christmas – I am loving having them to hand instead of digging through my bag to get that pen that’s just out of reach. Have a great 2016 – I’m really inspired to keep drawing through the year. I too wish everyone could be inspired just to draw a little each day.
I LOVE your work!!!
What you said about not drawing for years I so relate too. I stayed in advertising and design but drawing didn’t happen. Thank You! for showing me I wasn’t alone in that lost time and giving me incentive to draw now MORE and MORE!!! 😀
